Susanna Reid: GMB star responds to Kate Robbins’ ‘complaint’ about her amid self-isolation

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, 49, has been self-isolating away from the show, after her son developed a persistent cough. The Government has warned those who have a persistent cough and a fever, or live with somebody who does, to stay at home, as the symptoms could potentially be the coronavirus.

Despite being away from the show, the host has been making appearances via Skype, as her co-star Pier Morgan, 54, continues to present from the studio.

Last week, Emily Atack’s mum Kate Robbins, 57, jokingly asked Susanna to stop looking “very attractive” in a video on Twitter.

The actress said: “Hi everybody, I would like to have a quick word.

“I would like to complain actually about Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain.

The mother-of-three revealed why she is self-isolating via Skype on the show last week.

She explained: “One of the boys, one of my children has a persistent cough and that came on yesterday.

“Before the briefing yesterday afternoon, the advice had been, as we’d been discussing on the programme that the person themselves would be confined to the house for seven days.

“Everyone else, as long as they kept their distance could go about their business.

“Well, suddenly with these new drastic action measures that changed yesterday afternoon and it meant if even one member of your household had either the persistent cough or a fever, then you would all have to go into self-isolation for 14 days, so that means immediately I can’t go into work and work with you guys for 14 days.

Rebecca Adlington in baby bombshell after ruling out marriage ‘Not getting any younger’

Swimming star Rebecca Adlington, 31, said she is keen to have children with her boyfriend Andrew Parsons, but previously ruled out marrying her beau. The former olympian shares four-year-old daughter Summer with her ex-husband Harry Needs.

I’d love to have more kids, I love being a mum

Rebecca Adlington

Speaking of potentially having more children, she said: “I’m loving my job at the minute and being a mum, I absolutely love it, it’s my favourite thing in the whole wide world, spending time with Summer.

“Obviously every age is lovely, but at four, it’s a lovely age and so magical and fun.

“She keeps me on my toes that’s for certain, but I am loving my time with her.

“Maybe one day, I’d love to have more kids, it’s something that’s definitely not happening at the minute.

“But hopefully one day, I’d love to have more kids, I love being a mum.”

On how many more children she would like to have, she added: “Any would be an absolute blessing, I don’t take that for granted and I’m not getting any younger.

“It’s one of those that if it happens, obviously then it would be a blessing, but it’s not something at the forefront of my mind right now.”

Rebecca struck up a romance with Andrew following her split from Harry in 2016, a year after giving birth to their daughter Summer.

Back in 2018, she revealed how her daughter had adapted to Andrew.

She told Hello Magazine: “Her and Andy get on really, really well.

“We don’t live together, they only see each other once a week but we just really get on, he’s great with kids. She’s kind of happy playing, she’s just great.

“I think three is a good age. She’s not in her teenage years so it hasn’t been too challenging yet.”

Boy who suffered fatal head injury playing basketball donates organs on his 10th birthday – The Sun

A BOY who suffered a fatal head injury while playing basketball with his family donated his organs on his 10th birthday.

Ridge Scolley – a third grader from Frazee, Minnesota – was playing basketball with his cousins over the weekend when he lost his balance and hit the back of his head, his family revealed.

On Tuesday, Ridge's parents, brother, and sister did a "Hero Walk” with Ridge as they escorted him into the operating room.

Ridge's family hoisted the "donate life" flag when they said their final goodbyes and walked him into the room, according to the Grand Forks Herald.

A GoFundMe, created three days ago by the boy's aunt Stacey Morris, read: "Mike, Shannon, Clara and Troy have made the decision based on knowing that Ridge would want to help others by donating his organs.

"Ridge will be turning 10 tomorrow, March 10th and since he cannot receive gifts, he will be giving the gift of life to one or more through organ donation."

After the tragic incident, Ridge was airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

It was there doctors determined that his brain would not be able to recover.

But thankfully, Ridge was able to give life to others as his recipient was be a 6-year-old boy.

Stacey told the Grand Forks Herald: "Rather than him being able to receive gifts, he was able to give a gift to someone in need.

"That is what Ridge would have wanted … he was so considerate and so compassionate of other people, all the time."

A memorial service for Ridge will be held on March 22 at the Frazee-Vergas High School.

The GoFundMe, which has since received nearly $30,000 of its $60,000 goal, thanked everyone for being a part of his life.

It read: "Ridge had such a compassionate heart and loved life and we know he would want to remind all of us to be kind to others, do things in your life to make a difference and don’t ever have any regrets, do what you love."

When asked how it went, he replied: “We fell out. My dad and I got on like a house on fire and we never fell out.

Head to this action-packed new Spanish resort be fizzing with vitality

On your marks, get set… glow! Head to this action-packed new Spanish resort and the whole family will be fizzing with vitality

  • Mar Menor Beachclub is the latest super-luxe addition to the Neilson empire
  • Every second can be crammed with sports from volleyball to mountain biking
  • Buffet-style breakfast and lunch and four evening meals a week are included

We’ve always dragged our children across Europe on holiday, staying in a rented house and stopping off at a supermarket en route.

In the months before departure, my husband Guy would painstakingly plan the Eurostar journey, the overnight stopovers, and even the toll payments. For my part, I would simply look forward to the freedom of waking up with the day stretching ahead, ours to do with as we like.

But now, after much deliberation, we are taking our two children — Herbie, 15, and Iris, eight — on a new adventure: an all-inclusive Neilson activity holiday. Perhaps it’s the mention of the ‘8am 5km run’, but I have never dreaded a holiday more.

Non-stop fun: Mar Menor Beachclub in Spain, where every second can be crammed with sports from volleyball to kayaking

Mar Menor Beachclub in Los Urrutias, southern Spain — a 40-minute transfer from Murcia airport — is the latest super-luxe addition to the Neilson empire.

Alongside rival Mark Warner, Neilson has been providing all-inclusive active holidays for more than 40 years. Both companies seem to have weathered the package-holiday dip that caught Thomas Cook by surprise last year, but the central premise is the same — all holidaymakers are expected to do is turn up.

That doesn’t mean you just lie around all week. Far from it. Every second can be crammed with sports — from volleyball and mountain biking to boxercise classes and catamaran joy-rides. This is not a holiday for fat-cat lazing.

When we mention it to friends who have already been, they speak about it with the zeal of the newly converted. ‘Sign up for as much as possible, as quickly as possible,’ they would say conspiratorially.

All the kids’ clubs, and almost all of the fitness activities, are included in the price, as is the daily buffet-style breakfast and lunch, and four evening meals a week. (And, no, you don’t have to share tables — although by the end of the week the teens invariably do.)

Spa treatments and any drinks from the rooftop and beach bars are added to your bill, which, even when you know this, will still give you a nasty shock at check-out.

Our first glimpse of the resort is of the gleaming white facade, behind which a horseshoe of identical-looking rooms curves round three pools with loungers and cabanas.

Mar Menor, in the Iberian Peninsula, is a saltwater lagoon with a unique, protected ecosystem. It isn’t the most scenic of places — it looks straight across to the high-rises of La Manga — but Neilson knows its stuff, and it is the perfect place for water sports.

First, we are given an activity planner from which to select free daily group lessons in tennis (fortunately streamed so that barely-hit-the-ball players like myself don’t have to be humiliated by Wimbledon wannabes like my husband), yoga, windsurfing and Zumba. We add a few paid-for extras: kite surfing, a scuba diving trip and a massage.

We had pre-booked the children into kids’ clubs, but even before Iris’s ‘Sharksters’ session begins, she works herself into a frenzy, crying after a dip in the pool as she hasn’t made any friends in the first five minutes. Her near hysteria culminates in a gash on her foot. It is at that moment, blood gushing between her toes, that the real Neilson magic happens.

Within seconds, first aider Summer — by name and nature — turns up. Like a knight in smiling armour, she hoses down Iris’s foot and dresses it. By the second day, Iris is happily hobbling off to her club, assiduously ignoring us when we wave to her in the pool.

Mar Menor Beachclub, pictured, is a 40-minute transfer from Murcia airport. It is the latest super-luxe addition to the Neilson empire

As the week unfolds, it becomes even clearer as to why Neilson has an evangelical following. The staff are extraordinary. Many of them, I learn, went on holiday with the firm when they were children. They go on a ‘zero-to-hero’ training course, and it shows. The trickier the guest, the nicer they become. And there can be no trickier guests than the 30-odd recalcitrant teenagers who are trying their best to mingle.

I take myself to the ‘teen talk’ at the beach bar. There is only one other mum there — Liz, a sailing whiz with two teenage girls, both Neilson devotees. ‘It’s difficult to persuade them to do any other holiday now,’ Liz admits.

Instead of the pep talk I’d expected, we get an illuminating insight into what to expect from our not-so-little darlings in the coming week. ‘They will drink. Usually on the beach — so if you can’t find them at 1am, that’s where they’ll be. The best thing you can do is give them a curfew.’

As it turns out, they are relatively well-behaved, gathering during the day at the poolside area, complete with bean bags. By night, they have the time of their lives in the exercise area, their mobiles moving around in the dark like flirtatious glow worms.

On the plane home, my son is pinging emojis to a hastily set-up WhatsApp group, while only seats away from his new friends.

‘Best holiday ever,’ says Herbie. My husband and Iris agree. We have all been well and truly converted.

TRAVEL FACTS

Celia and her family travelled with Neilson holidays to Mar Menor Beachclub, from £499pp based on two adults staying for seven nights, including return flights from London Stansted and transfers (neilson.co.uk). The cost for a family of four (two adults and two children aged two to 14) sharing an interconnecting room is from £1,535.

Emilia Clarke: ‘I burst into tears’ Game of Thrones star admits her BROTHER stole from set

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, 33, said she was a “frustratingly good girl” during her time on the show and didn’t take anything from the set as a keepsake, unlike her co-star Kit Harington, who took a statue. But, despite the actress regretting her decision, she admitted her brother, who worked in the show’s camera department, surprised her with a gift unexpectedly.

I opened it this Christmas and just burst into tears

Emilia Clarke

Speaking to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 show this morning, Emilia said she was left “in tears” by her sibling’s kind gesture after she repeatedly asked producers if she could take home one of her wigs.

She explained: “I was such a frustratingly good girl, I didn’t take anything, I abided by the rules.

“However, I’m just going to say this live on radio, my amazing brother who worked on the show as well, he gave me the best Christmas present ever.

“He had in one of the battles scenes, he got a mate of a mate, anyway, he got one of the Targaryen flags, so I opened it this Christmas and just burst into tears.”

Emilia jokingly added: “Please can I have it back!”

Zoe went on to quiz the Daenerys Targaryen actress about life after the show.

The Game of Thrones star portrayed her character for ten years up until the show ended for good last year.

The radio host asked Emilia if she missed playing her alter ego and if she had been enjoying having a break.

She replied: “Yeah, it’s been really nice. I think my brain and my soul probably needed a bit of a break from it because we just kept going and getting bigger and bigger.

“I could never quite see what it was because we was in it,” she added.
