Corrie and Emmerdale child stars offer to help elderly amid Coronavirus pandemic

Young stars from Coronation Street and Emmerdale have offered to assist the elderly amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Rachel Flanagan — mother of Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan and Coronation Street stars Isabella and William Flanagan — posted on Instagram: ‘We’re sending hope and love to every single one of you, here’s a photo of my three duck racing;

‘I’ve taken to looking through lots of old photos this week If any of you have older relatives stuck in isolation or maybe a nursing home please DM me and my three would love to send them a little pick me up message.’

‘Literally thinking of anything we can do to help people get through this awful time.’

One social media user commented: ‘What a fab gesture. I’m stuck in isolation as I’m one of the 1.5 million people that are deemed to be extremely vulnerable but I’m able to use digital devices and social media.’

Amelia plays April Windsor — daughter-in-law of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Donna Windsor (Verity Rushworth) — in Emmerdale, and has done so since 2004.

Sister Isabella portrays Hope Stape in Coronation Street — a character who’s recently been at the centre of a huge storyline, as half-sister Jade Rowan (Lottie Henshall) manipulated her way in Fiz Stape’s (Jennie McAlpine) home.

William also stars in Coronation Street as Joseph Brown — Chesney’s (Sam Aston) son, and Hope’s cousin.
