Man, 36, chased down street and killed by axe-wielding attacker in Manchester – The Sun

A MAN has died after he was chased down the street and attacked by a maniac wielding an axe.

The 36-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident in Trafford, Greater Manchester.



Before the attack shortly before midnight on Thursday, the offender had caused significant damage to a number of parked cars in Moss Lane.

The attacker later rang the police to report the incident before he fled the scene, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A cordon is in place while the murder inquiry continues, police said.

A forensic tent has been erected on the driveway of a home within the cordon.

Eyewitnesses said a car with a smashed rear windscreen was seen parked on another driveway, reports Manchester Evening News.

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Kelly said: "This a shocking incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

"Our thoughts remain with his family, who are being supported by specialist officers at this incredibly distressing time.

"I would like to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated incident, and we have an increased police presence in the Partington area as we piece together the exact circumstances of what happened.

"Whilst we have a man in custody, our investigation is very much ongoing."
